NTE 1.0 Tier List: Best Characters Ranked & Build Priority Guide

NTE Version 1.0 features 38 playable characters. This tier list ranks all characters based on gameplay data and community feedback, helping you allocate limited resources effectively.

Rating System: SS tier characters are meta-defining picks with outstanding performance. S tier characters are strong picks across all content. A tier characters are viable in specific team compositions. B tier characters need buffs or specific scenarios to shine.

SS Tier (Current Meta):

Nanally — The undisputed best main DPS in Version 1.0. Anima Attack character with high skill multipliers, stable output, and powerful Anomaly Resonance effects. Performs at the top level in both exploration and challenging content. If you can only invest in one S-rank, Nanally is the choice. Build focus: ATK and Crit Rate with Anima disc sets.

Zero — Cosmos Attack character with exceptional burst damage. Finisher deals massive damage in a short window, making it ideal for speedrunning dungeons. The trade-off is longer cooldowns requiring careful skill rotation. Compared to Nanally, Zero leans toward burst over sustained damage.

Lacrimosa — Chaos Attack character consistently ranked top three. Versatile kit with both AoE clearing and single-target burst. Chaos attribute deals bonus damage against Cosmos enemies. Lower investment cost makes Lacrimosa an excellent second main DPS.

S Tier (Strongly Recommended):

Sakiri — The best support character currently available. Incantation Support provides team-wide damage buffs and energy regeneration, fitting into virtually any team composition. If you already have a main DPS, Sakiri is the best second S-rank investment.

Daffodil — Chaos Support specializing in shields and damage reduction. Exceptional survivability in challenging content makes Daffodil the best partner for early progression. Provides meaningful survival insurance with any main DPS.

Jiuyuan — Anima Utility offering healing and buffs. Simple kit that performs well even without heavy investment. Recommended for new players as a priority build.

Hotori — Cosmos Attack with output just below SS tier. Fast skill casting and smooth combos with excellent gameplay feel. Ideal for players who enjoy fast-paced combat.

Fadia — Psyche Attack with unique crowd control and sustained damage. Excels in stages requiring enemy control, indispensable for certain challenging boss fights.

Baicang — Incantation Defense, currently the strongest tank. Extremely high shield values and taunt abilities effectively protect teammates. Highly sought after in multiplayer dungeons.

Chiz and Akane — Cosmos and Incantation Attack characters respectively, each with distinct strengths. Chiz excels at AoE clearing while Akane offers fast, satisfying attack frequency. Both are solid S-tier picks.

A Tier (Viable with Limitations):

17 A-rank characters include Edgar, Mint, Nelly, Taygedo, Lingko, Shinku, and others. These perform well in specific compositions and scenarios but don't match S-tier overall. Edgar is notable as a support with irreplaceable roles in certain teams. Lingko offers competitive Incantation Attack damage. Consider A-ranks after securing SS/S tier cores.

Build Priority Recommendations:

New Players: Focus resources on one SS main DPS (Nanally recommended), then one S support (Sakiri or Jiuyuan), then a defense/utility for survivability. Expand your roster after establishing three core characters.

Experienced Players: Max main DPS level and discs first, then core support. Prioritize main DPS core damage skills. 2+2 disc mixing generally outperforms 4-piece sets unless the 4-piece bonus is exceptional.

Budget Players: Nanally + Jiuyuan offers the best value — one handles damage, the other handles healing, covering most content. Add any A-rank support for a functional three-character team. F2P players should focus on one or two characters rather than spreading resources thin.

Team Composition Principles: A complete team typically includes 1 main DPS, 1 support, 1 utility/defense, and 1 flex slot. Cover at least 2 attributes to avoid enemy elemental counters. Check Anomaly Resonance effects when building teams — the system rewards specific character pairings.

The April 18 official livestream confirmed the latest character roster information for Version 1.0:

16 S-Rank Characters Confirmed: The livestream confirmed 16 S-rank characters at launch: Nanally, Sakiri, Fadia, Lacrimosa, Baicang, Zero, Hotori, Daffodil, Jiuyuan, Haniel, Hathor, Chiz, Lilina, The Appraiser, Xiaozhen, and Xiaozhi. The S-rank count significantly exceeds earlier expectations.

Xiaozhi — Free S-Rank: Xiaozhi (S-rank) can be obtained for free through the City Tycoon game mode. This means every player is guaranteed at least one S-rank character without spending any gacha currency. Prioritize playing City Tycoon.

New A-Rank — Aurelia: The livestream confirmed a new A-rank character Aurelia joining the 1.0 launch roster. Her specific skills and role details will be revealed in subsequent updates.

Impact of No 50/50 on Character Acquisition: With no 50/50 mechanic confirmed, players have much higher certainty in obtaining specific S-rank characters. Combined with approximately 418 free pulls and the 50-pull standard banner selector, even F2P players can build powerful teams with multiple S-rank characters.
